synopsis

In 1917, when President Plutarco Elías Calles limits and then prohibits public religious practices, some groups decide to take up arms against Mexico’s national army to the cry of “Long Live Christ the King!” The movie follows characters who supported the movement from the city or fought in the battleground, and also zeros in on the President’s moments of decision and his encounters and disagreements with the US Ambassador.
