synopsis

The film based on the novel by Mexican writer Sergio Galindo is set in a small town at the turn of the 20th century. Otilia Rauda has a sensual body and a huge stain on her face and, ever since her adolescence, has provoked mixed reactions in men: rejection and desire. Her father forces her to marry the sordid, miserly Isidro, who infects her with a venereal disease that keeps her from having children. She takes revenge by cheating on him until the arrival of Rubén Lazcano, a fugitive from justice with whom she falls madly in love.
